Abstract
The matter of media literacy education of students during the lessons of Ukrainian language is studied in the article. The structure and content of media literacy has been determined as a result of media education competence. The author highlights the need of distinguishing an emotionally valuable, except for activeand educational, component in a structure of media literacy. The conditions, which provide the possibility of forming media literate linguistic persona during the native language lessons were defined. It was also emphasized to use dialogical strategies, reflective practitioner, and team work methods, apply modern, amusing for students, media texts, use interactive platforms for presentation and feedback. A particular attention was given to the point of using media texts during language education: their selection, analysis, creation, presentation and group discussion of communicative success and failure. The author observes a media text as an object of analysis, educational material interpretation method (created educational product) and a self-presentation tool. The important means while working with media texts are analysis, creation, presentation and group discussion of media texts. In this case the teacher should master the methods of wording the special questions, factual finding, searching for assertions and word-markers, determining their role for discerning the hidden meaning. To develop media creativity the author gives a set of tasks, which can be useful for a teacher while learning the topic “Lexicology” in the 10th grade. It is being proved that the Ukrainian language lessons can become under certain conditions a modern platform for shaping a media tolerate individual; also using elements of media education can contribute to the development of specific and key competence.
