AI Policy

Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence

The scientific journal Ukrainian Educational Journal adopts this policy to define acceptable and unacceptable uses of artificial intelligence (hereinafter – AI) and AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of manuscripts, as well as to ensure transparency in their use by authors.

Acceptable Use

Authors may use AI tools for auxiliary purposes, including:

  • text editing: grammar checking and improving readability;
  • formatting references and bibliographic data;
  • data visualization or technical support that does not affect the interpretation of results.

The use of AI must not compromise the originality, reliability, or scientific integrity of the research.

Prohibited Use

The following practices are not permitted:

  • generating scientific content (results, analysis, or conclusions) without proper verification and author responsibility;
  • fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data or sources;
  • use of AI in a manner that results in plagiarism or misrepresentation of authorship;
  • listing AI tools as authors or co-authors.

Authors bear full responsibility for the content of the manuscript regardless of AI use.

Disclosure

Authors must disclose the use of AI and related technologies in the preparation of the manuscript. The disclosure must include:

  • the name of the tool(s) used;
  • the purpose of its use;
  • confirmation that all outputs have been verified by the authors.

This information should be provided in a separate section of the manuscript (e.g., “Acknowledgements” or “Author Contributions”).

Editorial and Peer Review Process

Editors and reviewers must not use AI tools in a manner that compromises the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts. Any use of AI must comply with ethical standards and data protection requirements.

Responsibility and Compliance

The journal reserves the right to reject or retract a manuscript in cases of improper or undisclosed use of AI. All such cases are handled in accordance with the journal’s ethical principles and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
