Abstract

The article considers philosophical ideas of education humanization of the modern French philosopher, also well-known in the world, Edgar Morin. These ideas can be considered a natural dimension of his paradigm of complexity. Morin considers education humanization in the context of vital importance of deep social transformations and connects them with the problem of human knowledge and approaches towards knowledge acquisition. The article regards Morin’s views concerning crisis in science and human cognition and understanding of the world as the reason for global crisis including educational one. It also considers Morin’s views concerning the need of fundamental changes in scientific paradigm of cognition. Paradigm transformation assumes a turn to a different way of reality cognition, development of a complex way of thinking, and change of Cartesian paradigm of separation and simplification by a paradigm of holistic and complex vision. According to Morin, humanization of education is aimed at enabling humanity to exit from civilized barbarism and develop the ethics of the world and society. The author also pays attention to such philosophical ideas of Morin as importance of interdisciplinary approach to cognition, integration into learning of its previously ignored methods (aesthetic, poetic, intuitive, etc.), and development of emotional and psychical culture in order to affirm the paradigm of complexity. The article considers Morin’s interdisciplinary approach to the study of the phenomenon of human as a complex human, in particular as a “bio-psycho-social wholeness”. In addition, the author considers the problem of education contents and modern concept of encyclopedism, as well as major tasks of education humanization in Morin’s philosophy. The latter aspect involves a new generation of pedagogues, interdisciplinary approach to structuring educational contents, development of complex, contextual, and global thinking, teaching ethics of global understanding, fostering recognition of different levels of personal identity, etc. Morin’s ideas of education humanization point to the need for eradicative rethinking of educational process, its goals, objectives, organizational approaches, and contents’ choice and structuring. Simultaneously, these ideas present a constructive suggestion for deep transformation of humanity.
