Abstract

The article opens with the history of formation and development of distance education system in Italy. Undertake the comparative analysis (diachronic) of the dynamics of growth of the Italian multimedia universities and the number of university students at them. It reveals the image of a modern university of the third millennium, which has passed a long evolution, and in its new form appears in the form of massive international open universities. Definition the criteria and procedures for accreditation of university courses distance learning institution, which should unite organizational and managerial resources. Identified the pros and cons of learning in telematics universities. It is shown particularly formation of the largest telecommunication universities and ways of implementing distance learning in them. It is concluded that further promotion of virtual universities in the world and the need to develop the methodology and didactics of distance education as a basic tool for the formation of core competencies of future professionals. Important to study the means of ICT teacher training and their professional development through the implementation of «microteaching» as a way of feedback and reflection. Attention is focused on the further development of distance education in Ukraine through the prism of the study of successful international experience.
