Abstract
Foreign language communication as a modern value is substantiated in the article. The author describes decisive role of social networks as a revolutionary tool for interpersonal interaction as well as a platform for learning foreign languages. The influence of social networks on various aspects of human life is revealed in the article. The purpose of the paper is to find effective strategies for learning foreign languages using social networks and multilingual resources. Basic scientific methods applied are: analysis,
synthesis and comparison. The reasons of social networks popularity as a tool that modified the format of communication
are revealed. The author suggests considering the role of social networks for formal, informal and selfeducation. The article does not provide an exhaustive list of advantages and disadvantages of using social networks for educational purposes. A comparative analysis conducted in the study allows students to focus on the strong points of new technologies and comprehend fully difficulties and challenges caused by an active use of social networks during learning. The author emphasizes the importance of psychological
comfort in social networks and the differences that exist between real and virtual worlds, where a person can design a desired model of his own life, often imaginary. Ways of using multilingual social networks for learning foreign languages are analyzed in the
article. The material in the table reveals the level that one can achieve in case of self-education using social networks. The author suggests considering social networks as a modern way of making the study of foreign languages fascinating and interesting. The arguments for using various electronic programs on paid basis are given and grounded.
The author gives recommendations on studying foreign languages. The article highlights how important it is to define goals and choose the right learning strategy and emphasizes on the need to expand constantly learner’s own vocabulary. To accelerate the development of necessary linguistic skills and enhance motivation to study the author encourages using additional resources.
