Abstract

The fundamental natural science ideas on the basis of which the scientific picture of the world is formed, to a certain extent are reflected in the content of all natural science subjects and are studied in the form of laws, rules, principles-differentiated on different objects. Distinguishing these ideas is a common task of the methodology of teaching of all natural science subjects, and learning them by pupils as common natural ones contributes to creating a holistic idea of how the material world is arranged and how it functions. The article reveales the possibilities of realization of the leading natural science ideas in the content of teaching chemistry, defining the potential of the course on formation of the key competence in natural sciences and technologies. The main fundamental ideas include: the cognoscibility of the material world; material unity of the world; diversity and correlation of forms; discreteness of matter; hierarchy of levels of structural organization of matter; cause-effect relationships in nature; sustainable development. The article reveales the essence and cognitive significance of these ideas, as well as opportunities to implement them in school course of chemistry.
