Abstract
The period of the 70's and 80's of the twentieth century was very important for Ukrainian education and science, when in the conditions of global progress and the scientific and technological revolution the backwardness of the Soviet state was increasingly affecting all spheres of society's life. The priority of the technical specialties over humanities has led to a one-sided development of Ukrainian education and science, but at the same time a number of positive trends have been consolidated in the technical institutes of the Ukrainian SSR during the marked period and continue to be preserved until now. The purpose of the article is to investigate the organization of vocational and pedagogical training of teachers of Dnipropetrovskyi Engineering and Construction Institute during the 1970-1980s. The sources of the study were the funds of the State Archives of the Dnipropetrovsk Region (DADO) concerning the activities of the post-graduate course of the Dnipropetrovsk Engineering and Construction Institute in the 1970s-80s, as well as a set of works covering the history of the institute in the faces of its employees and students. As a result of the study, it was found that the state of pedagogical training of the professors and teaching staff of the institute in the 1970-1980s was satisfactory, which is confirmed by quantitative and qualitative indicators. The number of candidates and doctors among the teaching staff has steadily increased, and their pedagogical skills have been gradually improved (thanks to established traditions of conducting and discussing open lectures, mutual receptions, annual competitions of pedagogical skills, internships in other universities, etc.). The young generation of scientific and pedagogical staff of DECI has traditionally grown out of the number of capable graduates of the institution, which, thanks to the teaching instruction, became scientific and technical creativity even in student years, entered postgraduate studies, doctoral studies, successfully defended the dissertation and thus successfully replenished the teaching staff of the institute.
