FORMATION OF STUDENTS’ SCIENTIFIC SPEECH CULTURE IN THE PROCESS OF STUDYING “UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE (FOR PROFESSIONAL PURPOSES)”

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of scientific speech culture formation of future primary school teachers. The authors state that mastering the professional language in the higher educational establishment depends primarily on learning the professionally-oriented scientific style of the language. The course ‘’Ukrainian language for professional purposes’’ has to facilitate students’ communicative scientific preparation. Module 3 “Scientific communication as a component of professional activity” of the academic discipline ‘’Ukrainian language for professional purposes’’ is dedicated to studying of Ukrainian scientific style. The notions of “scientific speech culture”, “scientific communication”, “scientific text” have been analyzed. Peculiarities of realization of modern Ukrainian language literary norms in scientific style are traced, the most typical mistakes of scientific texts are specified. The article analyzes the reasons for the violation of language norms in the process of scientific text creations. The authors stress on the importance of consideration of morphological, lexical and syntactical literary language norms. The possible ways of error prevention in scientific texts have been described. Lexical means used in any scientific text should correspond to the norm. Scientific vocabulary is characterized by the usage of terminology, abstract words and notions, scientific idiomatic expressions. It is stated that the syntactical structure of scientific texts is predetermined by logical continuity of statements, their substantional support, motivation, definition of different important reasons, circumstances, etc. The importance of the Ukrainian scientific language in the professional formation of future teachers is grounded. The authors stress that the formation and improvement of scientific speech culture is of great importance for future primary school teachers in the period of rapid scientific development and it requires great attention of teachers of higher educational establishments, as skillful speakers are able to perceive the flow of scientific information, enrich their knowledge and share it with others
