Abstract
The necessity of the interconnected learning of the elements of text linguistics and forming communication skills of pupils is proved. Analysis of the latest researches and papers is carried out. Curriculum and textbooks for primary school are studied according to the problem under analysis. Written papers of primary school pupils are analysed, mistakes in their written speech are clarified. Theoretical background and methodological recommendations for working with elements of text linguistics, methods of working with text titles in particular are described. Classification of exercises according to the level of autonomy and cognitive activity is given: defining exercises (exercises for defining relevance of the title and the text, exercises for defining relevance of the title and the text type, exercises for defining relevance of the title and the style of the text); constructive exercises (linguistic experiment, editing, synonymic substitution); creative exercises (exercises for choosing the title to the text, exercises for guessing the content and the form (type, style) of the text according to its title. Various tasks that can be suggested for pupils when doing exercises are described. Many examples of the tasks based on the texts are given. The prospects for further research in this field are defined.
