Abstract

The article presents the statistical results of the psychological and pedagogical research on investigating the dynamics of motivational orientation of students for academic and research activities in learning the following subjects: Natural Science (3rd-6th forms), Physics (7th-11th forms), Astronomy (11th form). The psycho-pedagogical research lasted during 2005-2009 and 2013-2016. Students of 3rd-11th forms and first year students of pedagogical universities 014.04 specialties Secondary Education (Mathematics) and 014.08 Secondary Education (Physics) were respondents on this research stage. The results of the study are presented in tables and charts using differentiated approach (urban schools, rural areas, total allocation). The results of the psychological and pedagogical research allowed stating a steady reduction of the percentage of students with high and medium levels of motivation focusing on educational and research activities from the 3rd to the 9th forms. Since these experiment results are presented differently there is the opportunity to state (especially catastrophic is the situation in rural schools) a high level of motivation drop from 50% (3rd-4th forms) after 4-5 years of study to 25% (7th-9th forms). At the same time the increasing number of students with low motivation (13% of students in grades 3rd-4th and 27% of students in forms 7th-9th) should be noted. Senior school, as it was proved by the survey data, is not an exception: negative dynamics of incentives were recorded in two blocks: aiming (solves the problem of training students for goal-setting, awareness of the goals and their achieving), emotional and cognitive (causes students’ interest and creates learning activities). Statistical analysis of the data allowed stating that the level of 11th form students motivation to learning and research activity in the process of learning Physics (Astronomy) is statistically actually below the level of the 10th form students motivation.
