Abstract

The article is devoted to the research of the scientific heritage of outstanding Ukrainian scientists at the stage of the Physics course formation for future doctors (the end of 19th – the beginning of 20th century). Studies conducted in a historical retrospective have shown the presence of such basic stages in the formation and development of the Physics course in the system of medical education:
- Physics is an equal and compulsory academic discipline (the beginning of the 19th – the middle of the 20th century);
- the elaboration of «Medical and Biological Physics» integrated course on the base of relevant disciplines (the beginning of the 80-s – the middle of the 90-s 20th century);
- professionally oriented course profiling (dentistry, medicine, pharmacy). The main attention has been paid to the research of the formation of scientific schools and physical laboratories in Ukraine, the system of training of the scientific and pedagogical staff, development of teaching methods, development of standards of medical education (the end of the 19th – the beginning of the 20th century). The study of the historical origins of the course of Physics at medical universities has shown the integrity, consistency and innovative character of the approaches to the formation of the content of medical and biological Physics course at the stage of its genesis. The research has shown the impotent role of professor Joseph Kosonogov (1966–1922) in the formation of Physics course for future doctors. Some of his ideas keep on their relevance in the field of teaching methods and can be used in improving the modern methodological system of teaching physical and mathematical disciplines at medical universities.
