Abstract
The 25-year development of the NAES of Ukraine as the leading selfgoverning research organization in the sphere of education is presented. The current key role of the NAES of Ukraine in theoretic-methodical and scientific-methodical support of national education; carrying out fundamental and applied research on problems of education, pedagogy and psychology; and accomplishing independent professional expertise are enlightened. The significant contribution to scientific, scientific-pedagogical and pedagogical staff training is revealed. The NAES of Ukraine activity concerning integration of the national education and research area in the European and world education and research areas is characterized. The priority tasks are grounded and the ways of their solution in relation to modernization of educational and research spheres of Ukraine and the NAES of Ukraine in the immediate and medium term prospects are determined.
