Abstract

This paper presents a comparative analysis of the educational components of Italian «La Sapienza University of Rome» (SAPIENZA Università degli Studi di Roma «La Sapienza»); University of Rome «Tor Vergata» (Università degli Studi di Roma «Tor Vergata»), University of Genoa (Università degli studi di Genova); University of Perugia (Università degli Studi di Perugia); University of Catania (Università degli Studi di Catania) and Ukrainian (Lviv Polytechnic National University, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv) universities. The main differences in the training of future specialists in the field of tourism have been identified, in particular the terms of Bachelor's degree program in Italy and Ukraine; practical training of students, and opportunities for further employment of special graduates in Tourism.
Proceeding from the analysis of the educational components of the HEIs under research, it is necessary to identify the six main differences in the training of future professionals in the field of tourism:

  • terms of EQL “Bachelor” in Italy and Ukraine;
  • names and goals of educational programs in Italian and Ukrainian universities;
  • educational vectors of academic disciplines;
  • blocks of academic disciplines;
  • specifics of practical training of students;
  • opportunities for further employment of a graduate majoring in «Tourism».

According to the results of the comparative analysis, it is determined that the bachelor's degree in Tourism at Italian universities is three years, and in Ukraine – four years; it is characterized by different approaches to the formation of the name and goals of educational programs. With regard to the most profitable and most developed types of tourism in the country, in Ukrainian universities the reference point is chosen on the comprehensive aspect of a tourist specialty, that is taking into account all its elements.
Educational vectors in Italy are the basis for curricula content with relevant disciplines, in particular, economic, linguistic, legal, professional, etc. In Ukraine as a whole, these aspects remain, except for the legal one, which is characterized by a significant lack of legal disciplines in contrast to the Italian free economic zones. The priority component of the educational process in Italy is the practical component, which is implemented through internships in relevant companies, and institutions, which allows to increase the consolidation of theoretical knowledge and practical skills directly at the tourism company. Unlike with Italian universities, Ukrainian HEIs have established a classical practice of highly professional acquisition of practical competencies by students for further successful employment, and an internship is likely only as a grant program.
