Abstract

In the article, the main approaches to the projecting and the development of the textbook on history in the context of the combination of the activity-based and the competence-based approaches were defined and specified. The whole education process in this paradigm is assured by means of the child’s active cognitive activity which is, mainly, independent, at the level that is required by every pupil individually. The education content must be not the system of knowledge (ideas, concepts, and other academic information) but the system of actions and knowledge that provide the comprehension of this system. The result of such comprehension by a pupil is the formation and the development of the key (basic, main) as well as the subject competences of a personality. Correspondingly, nowadays a textbook is peculiar for its absolutely new functions so that the comprehension of both approaches serves the basis for the discovery of the requirements to the content and the methodological apparatus of a modern textbook. Naturally, the abovementioned approaches make the cardinal changes not only in the textbook itself but also the opportunity to work with it at the lessons and at home.
