Abstract
The challenge of the development of the pupils’ linguocultural competence in the process of learning the languages of the national minorities in the Ukrainian secondary schools is studied. Its methodological and methodical aspects are analyzed in the discourse of the formation and the development of the linguocultural concept of language teaching. The significance and the role of the linguocultural competence in the solution of the problems of the student-centered and the communicativebased training are covered.The definition of the linguocultural competence in the context of the linguocultural school didactics is provided. The linguocultural competence is seen as the pupils’ ability to use the knowledge about the culture of the people, embodied in its national language in the communication, to interact in terms of international communication effectively. It was found that the linguocultural competence is integrative. Its development involves the assimilation of the complex knowledge of the language as a system of linguistic, cultural, social norms and cultural values, which are predetermined by the national originality and mental attitude of the people; that is the reason why the structural elements the linguocultural work are suggested to be the cultural value concepts. The authors emphasize that the study of the cultural value concepts must be based not only on the national but also on the universal human values; it is necessary to develop the ability to set their communication objectives, taking into account the national and cultural diversity of the world. It is concluded that the development of the linguocultural competence contributes to the formation of the pupils’ national consciousness and national tolerance as a guarantee of the social productive interaction of people living in Ukraine.
