Abstract

The article reviews the issue of emotional component development of the figurative speech among elementary schoolchildren with low vision. According to the pedagogical experts, it is important for correcting secondary abnormalities in the child's development, which are the result of the visual impairment.
Apparently, the emotional component of the figurative speech involves the ability of the children to talk about their feelings and emotions from a read literary texts, analyze the emotional state of the characters, empathize with them and etc. It also allows them to bring up a high internal culture. The authors defined the following criteria for studying the emotional component: the formation of expressive reading skills aloud, reading comprehension (main idea definition, the ability to reproduce a sequence of events, establishing semantic, causal relationship).
Children with low vision were divided into four groups of the developmental component level: high, medium, low and very low. The findings show that an insufficient (low) level of proficiency among elementary school pupils with visual impairment of emotional perception of figurative speech does not contribute to the accuracy and expressiveness of information transfer. Also the insufficient perception of ideas about objects and reality surrounding events, which could be relied on during the process of explaining the accepted figurative terms was determined.
