Abstract
Abstract. The article examines the history of the formation and development of the Department of Economics and Management of Secondary Education as a management unit in the organizational chart of the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine over 100 years, in particular: changes in the names of the management unit and the personnel composition of its heads; The activities of the scientific teams of the management departments of the Institute of Pedagogy since its establishment are comprehensively covered, their achievements and contribution to the development of management knowledge in the development of school science and the theory of management of general secondary education and educational institutions are presented, depending on the management paradigm and tasks of the education system in Ukraine. Using various research methods, in particular: the study of historical sources and publications, content and SWOT analysis of documentation and printed materials, the generalization method, etc., the history of the names and surnames of the heads of the Department of Economics and Management of General Secondary Education, starting from 1926, is revealed; content and SWOT analysis of tasks, areas and content of research issues by periods of the formation of the department are carried out: the second half of the 20s of the 20th century - the first third of the 21st century; the achievements of the department's scientific schools as centers for the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel are presented; significant indicators of the implementation of the results of research and experimental work in educational institutions and institutions are presented; the experience of using the results of the department's research work in the implementation of educational policy, in the implementation of international scientific cooperation, in particular: the organization of international internships, projects and programs is disclosed.
